MabSwitch is on the lookout for a passionate and driven scientist with expertise in immunology or cell biology, acquired through academic or industry experience. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of T cell biology and will spearhead the design, execution, and analysis of both in vitro and in vivo assays aimed at evaluating the anti-tumor efficacy of innovative compounds such as next-generation T cell engagers or CAR-T cells, utilizing MabSwitch's proprietary Universal Allosteric-Linker and Switch Module for Antibodies (UNASMATM) technology, in alignment with application-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct cell biology tasks, including the isolation, characterization, and setup of assays with primary human and murine immune cells, tumor cell lines relevant to immuno-oncology research, and primary patient-derived cells.
  2. Design and implement experiments focused on immune cell profiling, cell processing from xenograft models, and various assays such as cytotoxicity, proliferation, activation, cell viability, and survival, with a strong emphasis on flow cytometry to evaluate the functionality of bispecific antibody compounds or CAR-T cells.
  3. Engage in compound screening, optimization, and characterization through the application of these assays.
  4. Generate necessary reagents for projects, including the preparation of lentivirus for the transduction of established cell lines and primary immune cells.
  5. Oversee study design, project management, and data analysis for animal models to assess anti-tumor effects, collaborating with external partners.
  6. Conduct immunological analyses related to cellular and animal models.
  7. Utilize advanced gene editing techniques on primary human immune cells, employing technologies such as CRISPR, TALEN, and other endonucleases, along with molecular biology experiments including DNA and protein preparation, immunoprecipitation, and western blotting.

Team Dynamics

  • Collaborate with market segment/application leads to strategize experimental approaches.
  • Interpret, document, and present in vitro and in vivo model data, drawing logical conclusions and communicating findings to project teams.
  • Perform essential biochemical analyses to evaluate the functions of compounds and CAR-T cells in cell-based assays, including cell killing assays and flow cytometry.
  • Independently identify and implement solutions based on published research.
  • Prepare reports and present results during regular team meetings.
  • Support the team with all immunological inquiries.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. with up to 2 years of research experience in cell or tumor immunology, cell biology, or related fields, or a Master's/Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and a proven track record of accomplishments and publications.
  • Technical proficiency in a variety of tumor immunology techniques, including cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, xenograft models, and bioinformatics tools.
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, tumor cell assays, and cytokine quantification.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with a high degree of innovation and analytical capability.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for developing the next generation of immunotherapies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the industry related to immunology or tumor research.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Familiarity with bispecific antibody and CAR-T cell experimentation.
  • Knowledge of tumor models in mice and mouse immunology.
  • Experience with T/B/NK/macrophage cell biology.
  • Experience in gene editing, cell transfection, and transduction systems.
  • Experience in preparing reagents for in vivo assays and conducting in vivo experiments.
  • Experience in protein engineering and antibody design.
  • Proficiency in using biological and statistical software such as Prism, FlowJo, or JMP.
