Job Summary:

As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care by evaluating medical histories and synthesizing relevant health data. You will offer education, consultation, and treatment plans to patients and their families, focusing on ocular and visual disorders.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care:
    • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with ocular conditions, including disorders of the eyelid, orbit, and visual pathways.
    • Review and synthesize patient medical histories to inform care decisions.
    • Interpret and coordinate information to make informed recommendations regarding patient treatment.
    • Educate and consult with patients and their families on treatment plans.
    • Collaborate with patients to enhance their health and well-being.
    • Practice with cultural sensitivity and respect for individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
    • Document patient information electronically in accordance with professional standards.
    • Engage in a multidisciplinary approach to case management.
    • Provide care in various settings, including outpatient and inpatient environments.
    • Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Utilize quality improvement methodologies to enhance patient care processes and outcomes.
    • Participate in peer review and quality assurance initiatives.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency training program in Ophthalmology or equivalent.
  • Licensed Physician in Minnesota required upon hire.
  • ACLS-BLS certification required within 180 days of hire.
  • PALS certification may be required depending on the business unit.
  • NRP certification may be required depending on the business unit.
  • Licensed Physician in Wisconsin required upon hire.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire.
  • Prescription Monitoring Program registration required upon hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire.

Medium Work:
Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently.
