POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Audio Engineer plays a crucial role in capturing, mixing, and refining audio during various church services, memorials, and special occasions. This position involves setting up, diagnosing, and managing sound equipment to ensure superior audio quality for live audiences, broadcasts, and recordings. The engineer will also be tasked with mentoring fellow media team members on the fundamentals of sound operation and mixing techniques. As an integral part of the media team, the engineer is expected to possess a comprehensive understanding of industry-standard audio practices and demonstrate alignment with the New Covenant Church of Philadelphia's mission and values. A commitment to Christian principles and active participation in church activities is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Engages respectfully with Pastors, congregation members, and staff, ensuring a welcoming and efficient service experience.
  2. Fosters a positive and collaborative atmosphere with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality.
  4. Participates in all team meetings, professional development workshops, and required training sessions.
  5. Upholds confidentiality regarding church members and organizational matters.
  6. Adheres to all church policies and exemplifies compliance.

AUDIO OPERATIONS AND TRAINING:

  1. Manages sound mixing during worship services, Bible studies, and special events.
  2. Conducts sound checks and technical rehearsals with the worship and media teams.
  3. Executes post-production audio editing for recorded materials.
  4. Ensures high-quality sound in all recorded content.
  5. Provides training for volunteers on sound equipment operation and effective mixing techniques.
  6. Collaborates with Worship Leaders and the Music Director to establish sound cues and directives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Formal training in live sound engineering with a minimum of three years of professional experience.
  2. Experience in a church or worship environment is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Proficient in live sound engineering for large venues with multiple audio channels.
  2. Experienced in mixing diverse music genres, including gospel.
  3. Familiar with both analog and digital audio consoles.
  4. Detail-oriented with strong listening skills.
  5. Leadership capabilities for guiding a team of volunteers.
  6. Effective communication skills.
  7. Knowledgeable in graphic design, video editing, and the Adobe Suite.
  8. Proficient in Digital Audio Workstations.
  9. Ability to operate a Behringer Wing Digital Mixer.
  10. Capable of quick thinking and troubleshooting in high-pressure situations.
  11. Able to work at a workstation for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs as necessary.
  12. Comfortable standing for long durations.

WORK SCHEDULE: Availability required for Sunday mornings, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, totaling 20-25 hours per week. Flexibility for additional events is essential.
