POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Audio Production Specialist is tasked with the essential duties of capturing, mixing, and refining audio during various church functions, including worship services, memorials, and special gatherings. This role involves the setup, troubleshooting, and operation of audio equipment to ensure superior sound quality during live events and recordings. The Audio Production Specialist will also play a key role in mentoring other media team members on the fundamentals of sound equipment operation and mixing techniques. As a vital member of the media team, the individual will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry-standard practices and methodologies. It is expected that the incumbent aligns with the vision, mission, and values of the New Covenant Church of Philadelphia, embodying Christian principles and actively participating in the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Engages with pastors, congregation members, and staff with professionalism and respect, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment.
  2. Fosters a positive atmosphere and collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality.
  4. Participates in all staff meetings, professional development workshops, and required training sessions.
  5. Attends necessary leadership meetings.
  6. Upholds confidentiality regarding church members and organizational matters.
  7. Complies with all church policies and serves as a role model in adherence to these standards.

AUDIO & TRAINING DUTIES:

  1. Mixes audio during Sunday worship services, Bible study sessions, and special events as required.
  2. Conducts sound mixing during technical rehearsals with the worship and media teams.
  3. Performs sound checks to identify and resolve any equipment or audio issues prior to events.
  4. Executes post-production audio edits for recorded materials.
  5. Ensures high-quality sound on all recorded content.
  6. Educates volunteers on the operation of sound equipment and effective mixing techniques.
  7. Collaborates with Worship Leaders, the Music Director, and the Lead Pastor to establish audio cues and directions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Formal training in live sound engineering and a minimum of three years of continuous professional experience in sound production.
  2. Experience in a church or worship environment is preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  1. Proficient in live sound engineering for large venues with multiple audio channels.
  2. Experienced in mixing various music genres, including gospel.
  3. Fluent in both analog and digital audio consoles.
  4. Detail-oriented with strong attentiveness to sound quality.
  5. Leadership abilities for guiding a team of volunteers.
  6. Effective communication skills.
  7. Familiarity with Adobe Suite, graphic design, and video editing software.
  8. Knowledge of Digital Audio Workstations.
  9. Ability to operate a Behringer Wing Digital Mixer.
  10. Capable of quick thinking and troubleshooting in high-pressure situations.
  11. Ability to work at a workstation for extended periods.
  12. Physical capability to lift up to 20 lbs. as necessary.
  13. Ability to stand for prolonged periods.

WORKING HOURS: Flexible schedule required for Sunday mornings, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, totaling 20-25 hours per week. Availability for special events and memorials on weekdays and weekends is essential.
