About this Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our corporate office in Kansas City, Missouri. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our financial planning and analysis functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and managing our financial risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies to support our long-term goals.
    • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and analyses.
    • Review and recommend changes to operating company project mark-up strategies, contract review process regarding risk and cash flow, operational productivity, and SG&A expenditures.
    • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team on financial performance and projections.
  • Financial Management:
    • Manage our financial planning and analysis functions.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Oversee cash flow management, investment activities, and capital structure decisions.
    • Monitor and manage our financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and manage financial risks, including market risks, credit risks, and operational risks.
    • Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure our risk management policies and strategies are in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
    • Coordinate with other departments to support their financial needs and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
    • Communicate financial results and strategies to the board of directors, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Governance:
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including GAAP and IFRS.
    • Oversee tax planning and compliance, working closely with external auditors and tax advisors.
    • Ensure our financial practices adhere to corporate governance standards and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in financial management, strategic planning, and risk management within the construction or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and financial instruments.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools.
