Senior Mechanical Engineer for Space Hardware

Project Kuiper is a cutting-edge initiative that aims to launch a constellation of satellites in Low Earth Orbit. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, analysis, and development of mechanisms for this ambitious project.
We are seeking an exceptional engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in the design, analysis, sizing, and selection of mechanical components for space environments.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with gears, bearings, lubricants, motors, and gearboxes, as well as CAD software like NX and TeamCenter. You will be responsible for generating detailed designs, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, and ensuring design intent and cost-effectiveness throughout the production process.
A day in the life of this role involves tackling complex problems, working with multiple technical teams, and providing documentation and presentations for technical design reviews. You will have the opportunity to work on novel situations and solve problems at scale, making it an exciting challenge for those who relish ambiguity and creativity.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with CAD software
- 5+ years of experience in design and development of hardware at scale
- 5+ years of experience in development, test, deployment of aerospace systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in the design, qualification, volume production of PCBA enclosures for spacecraft
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Strong time and task management skills with consistent attention to detail
This position offers a competitive salary range of $128,600/year - $213,600/year, based on location. Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package, including equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation. The base pay reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
