Job Summary

We are seeking a Director, Sports & Healthy Lifestyles, who will provide leadership to the Healthy Lifestyles and Youth Sports departments. This role involves strategic planning, program development, volunteer/committee development, HR, and facility management. The successful candidate will implement the YMCA's mission, vision, and values in staffing, volunteers, and member retention.



Key Responsibilities


  1. Strategic Planning and Program Development: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for healthy lifestyles programming, ensuring consistency and quality across departments.
  2. Leadership and Team Management: Recruit, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate Healthy Lifestyle & Sports staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  3. Budget Management: Develop, control, and track departmental budgets in accordance with branch and association guidelines.
  4. Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with local health organizations, participating in events and initiatives that promote the YMCA's mission and values.
  5. Facility Management: Oversee the scheduling, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment related to Healthy Lifestyles areas.
  6. Staff Development: Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  7. Performance Evaluation: Set annual priority objectives, improve service based on staff evaluations or customer feedback, and uphold all association policies and core values.
  8. Communication: Collaborate with the branch leadership team for strategic planning and operations management, ensuring integration of Healthy Lifestyle programs into overall branch and association plans.


Requirements


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in a fitness supervisory/management position, commensurate experience in fitness management, and current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
  • Certifications: Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y, Foundations of Listen First, Principles of Member Health & Wellness, Foundations of Strength and Conditioning, and Foundations of Group Exercise.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills, knowledge of fitness trends and equipment, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current industry certifications and willingness to obtain applicable licenses/certifications as required.

Salary: $68,500 annually, commensurate with experience.
