We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals. As an essential member of the Revenue Cycle team, you will be responsible for accurate registration, patient estimates, point of service collections, and providing exemplary customer service to patients and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Interview patients and utilize multiple complex applications to create or validate patient medical records and insurance/bill claims.
- Verify and allocate insurance plans using electronic eligibility tools, phone calls to payers, and web portals.
- Execute patient estimates, educate guarantors regarding charges and out-of-pocket liability, and establish payment plans when applicable.
- Successfully calculate, collect, and post co-pays, deductible, co-insurance, and prior balance due from patients in accordance with policy.
- Participate in wayfinding, provide directions or transport as needed to ensure a positive patient/customer experience.
- High School Equivalent/GED required; 1+ year of healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
- College associate or bachelor's degree is equivalent to 1 year of work experience.
- Experience utilizing multiple complex software solutions and ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Notable client service, communication, and relationship building skills.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and function independently as a team player.
