Position Overview:We are seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Assistant, Associate, or Full Research Professor specializing in Bioinformatics and Synthetic Biology within our Marine Biomedical Research Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a framework for identifying and translating biosynthetic gene clusters into beneficial chemicals derived from marine organisms, with a focus on human health applications.
Expertise in genome assembly from metagenomic data is highly valued, particularly for the development of natural products from marine sources, as well as for environmental samples linked to harmful algal blooms and other ocean-related health issues. Candidates should have a robust background in developing methodologies and software for the screening, editing, storage, and analysis of DNA, RNA, and protein sequence data.
Preferred qualifications include experience in whole genome assembly, metagenomic analysis, genomic profiling, comparative genomics, and gene mapping. The candidate will also have the opportunity to instruct graduate and undergraduate courses in areas such as Marine Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Evolutionary Biology, or Genomics.

Minimum Qualifications:The candidate must hold a doctorate in Microbiology, Synthetic Biology, Chemistry, Metabolic Engineering, Bioinformatics, Functional Genomics, or a closely related field at the time of application.
Preferred Experience:- A strong publication record.
- An active, well-funded research program appropriate to their experience level.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with university and external partners on research addressing contemporary ocean science issues.
