Inter-Con Security is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting for all aspects of our employee benefit plans.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare journal entries to record benefit plan transactions, including vacation and sick leave accruals and usage.
- Analyze, reconcile, and resolve issues related to benefit GL accounts, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, vacation and sick leave accruals, and other benefits.
- Reconcile benefit plan subledgers data to the general ledger.
- Develop and monitor internal controls over the benefits administration process.
- Analyze benefit plan costs and trends, including vacation and sick leave usage patterns.
- Prepare reports for management on benefit plan activities, including vacation and sick leave accruals, usage, and turnover.
- Coordinate with our Contracts, Benefit Administration, and payroll team to understand new or modified agreements.
- Provide support and explanations during financial and benefit audits.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in benefits accounting, with experience in a unionized environment a plus.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as applied to employee benefit plans, including vacation and sick leave accruals.
- Experience with large data sets and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams throughout the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPA is preferred but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP, accounting, and payroll systems. Specific experience with our current systems; Salesforce, Certinia, Paycom is preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
