We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at 505 Aurora Health Care, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and processing medical specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient identification to ensure specimen safety and accuracy.
- Collect and process medical specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocols.
- Operate laboratory equipment and perform limited testing under CLIA guidelines.
- Answer and screen telephone calls, and provide assistance with inventory and supplies.
- Accept and process specimens from internal and external customers, and maintain accurate records.
- Order and verify test requests, and document quality assurance information.
- Perform laboratory result entry and participate in internal and external proficiency testing.
- Provide instruction and training to employees and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- No experience required, but knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function is preferred.
- Basic computer skills and keyboarding ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Operate laboratory equipment and handle hazardous materials.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
