Job Summary:

Dartmouth Health is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant II to join our team. As a Medical Assistant II, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets and checks in patients, notifies providers, and prepares patient rooms and equipment for procedures and exams.
  • Takes and records vital signs, informs providers of patient vital signs and concerns, and recognizes and treats emergency patients as a priority.
  • Assists with patient examinations and treatments, handles patient situations over the phone, and schedules appointments and procedures with medical professionals.
  • Registers new patients, establishes medical records, and prepares patient billings.
  • Assists patients with filling out insurance and other forms, supplies authorized information upon request by third-party payors, and instructs patients in preparation for specific procedures.
  • Collects and processes routine laboratory specimens, operates and maintains clinical equipment, and maintains aseptic technique.
  • Cleans, wraps, and autoclaves instruments, cares for supplies and equipment, and performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of medical/technical experience desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proven work experience with the public, strong computer ability desired, and honesty, dependability, ability to multi-task, and detail-oriented.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

  • BLS required within 30 days of employment.
  • Certified Phlebotomist, ASCP preferred.
