Position Overview

We are seeking a talented Construction Estimator to become part of a leading General Contractor known for its extensive experience in managing intricate projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Construction Estimator will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing bid documents from clients, including work scopes, sketches, overlays, or complete project plans to thoroughly understand the necessary scope of work.
  • Collaborating with the assigned Construction Project Manager before developing an estimate or bid proposal to review bid documents and formulate a strategic plan.
  • Conducting precise and thorough quantity take-offs from project plans.
  • Creating detailed bid packages and work scopes by trade for distribution to subcontractors, ensuring clarity in the work scope for major trades involved.
  • Requesting material quotes from vendors supplying necessary materials and services.
  • Maintaining organized records for vendor quotes and subcontractor bids.
  • Gathering multiple quotes for trade and material services, meticulously reviewing all quotes to ensure the required scope is included.
  • Negotiating with service providers to secure more favorable rates.
  • Leading and participating in bid walks with clients and subcontractors.

Candidate Profile

The ideal Construction Estimator will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Construction Estimator role.
  • Experience in one of the primary markets: healthcare, life sciences, academic, or commercial.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer and software skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
