Fraser Engineering Company, Inc. is a well-established Mechanical Contracting firm with over 70 years of experience. We specialize in Mechanical, Plumbing, Process Piping, HVAC, Energy, Service, Start up and Commissioning - even General Contracting and Design in both the private and public sectors.

Fraser has an immediate opening for a Plumbing Estimator. The candidate will be responsible to perform detailed construction cost estimates. The projects generally include construction of new and the rehabilitation of existing HVAC and plumbing systems. The work for estimators will vary and will include preparation of estimates during the planning, design and construction phases of municipal and other public and private work projects focused in Massachusetts area.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the development of construction cost estimate over various phases of a project in its life cycle.
  • Account and document changes in estimate values made of the project life cycle due to changes in scope, understanding of cost needs, schedule, etc.
  • Determine estimate labor and equipment costs.
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
  • Review and understand bid documents and assess project risks.
  • Review project implementation logistics and project schedule as related to the basis of estimate.
  • Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Review quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team.
  • Assist PM in change orders for ongoing construction projects.
  • Attend and contribute at meetings with project team members.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction cost estimating
  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or other construction and estimating related field
  • Computer skills with experience with software estimating program software, including FastPipe
  • Must work effectively with estimating staff and other project team members
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to attend project walk through's
  • Must be OSHA 10 certified
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to complete a CORI
  • Must be able to complete and pass a background/drug test
