About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Code Enforcement Officer to join our Planning and Development Services Department. As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and County ordinances, including property standards, building codes, sound ordinances, and zoning regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and enforce complaints regarding ordinances and codes.
  • Determine legal descriptions and property owners from county records.
  • Maintain complaint records and input data into the computer tracking system.
  • Utilize contractors for abatement of violations.
  • Prepare and testify on cases for hearing before the Special Magistrate.
  • Compile case information for public records requests.
  • Recover illegal signs from the rights-of-way.
  • Participate in cross-training sessions with co-workers to address comprehensive codes.
  • Work with citizens, civic associations, and homeowner's associations to maintain a clean, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing community.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of field enforcement experience involving interpreting, documenting, reporting, and/or correcting violations of regulatory codes or ordinances.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required at time of hire.
  • Must obtain FACE certification within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FACE certification.
  • Sound level meter readings and light meter reading experience.
