Truss Design Specialist

At GPAC, we are seeking a skilled Truss Design Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building materials and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop floor and roof truss placement plans, truss design drawings, and truss quotes using CAD software and industry knowledge.
  • Determine design specifications based on blueprints and structural design needs.
  • Review and verify the work of other designers to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, sales staff, and other stakeholders to clarify technical aspects of plans.
  • Document communication and design decisions using Excel spreadsheets and email records.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and industry standards to guarantee the safety of designs.
  • Utilize advanced math skills and technical knowledge of CAD software to calculate lengths, weights, angles, and other design elements.
  • Consult with experienced component technicians and management as needed to ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy.
  • Plan and prioritize work efficiently to meet productivity goals and deadlines.
  • Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self or coworkers.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in truss design and drafting in the construction and building industry.
  • Highly proficient in MiTek or Alpine software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
