Flexible days based on clinical requirements with a standard shift from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and room patients for examinations by collecting vital signs and documenting relevant health information (e.g., chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Conduct laboratory tests (e.g., strep tests, wound cultures, specimen collections) adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Assist healthcare providers during procedures and surgeries, including pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, and colposcopy.
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers, including immunizations, antibiotics, and pain management. With limitations, initiate and manage IV therapy.
- Provide basic patient education regarding tasks, treatments, and self-care. Ensure follow-up on procedure requests, prescription refills, and referrals.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members, documenting and relaying accurate patient information.
- Perform advanced clinical tasks such as suture removal, catheterization, audiograms, and EKGs under clinical supervision.
- Maintain and organize exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and equipment maintenance.
- Participate in patient-centered initiatives and quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers, to be obtained within 45 days unless exempted by department leadership.
Education Required:
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
Experience Required:
- No prior experience necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in computer skills, including electronic medical records systems.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Frequent exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and biological hazards; protective clothing and equipment will be provided as necessary.
- Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with the ability to perform fine motor skills.
