The Director of Development is a key leadership position responsible for driving the growth and success of our organization's fundraising and communication strategies. This role will play a critical part in shaping our development program, building strong relationships with donors, and ensuring the effective implementation of our fundraising and communication plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with our organization's mission and goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, grantors, and community partners to secure funding and support for our programs.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of our annual communications plan, ensuring that all donor segments receive timely and updated communications.
  • Manage and oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, including the annual Wings of Spring Gala and Birdies for Literacy.
  • Develop and steward a portfolio of donors, providing personalized and high-touch service to ensure their continued support.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans for growth and development.
  • Provide supervision and coaching to the Development Manager, ensuring their success and growth in their role.
Qualifications:
  • Three to five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
  • Excellent ability to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with all community stakeholders.
  • Event and/or project planning experience.
  • Experience in hiring, training, coaching, and supervising staff.
  • Outstanding writing skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and under pressure.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable within a growing, fast-paced organization.
  • High standards of performance, quality, credibility, and integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in fundraising CRM systems (Bloomerang preferred).

We offer a competitive salary range of $73,000 - $76,000 per year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
