ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Water Treatment Field Service Specialist is tasked with initiating and executing field service operations at client locations in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves working with advanced and complex systems, proactively troubleshooting issues, performing mechanical and electrical tasks, conducting preventative maintenance, managing parts inventory, and identifying and rectifying safety concerns related to both Company and Customer-owned equipment. The position requires direct interaction with clients and may involve work across multiple systems, locations, and customers. A typical work week includes travel on designated days and fieldwork during the midweek.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To excel in this role, the individual must effectively perform each essential duty.

  • Install, start up, conduct functional and performance testing, provide training, manage project closeout, warranty transitions, service, and aftermarket contracts.
  • Experience with electrical equipment, specifically low and medium voltage power distribution panels.
  • Identify service needs and manage site resources to ensure timely completion of activities.
  • Collaborate with customer representatives to diagnose equipment issues, troubleshoot root causes, and arrange necessary parts and services to resolve concerns.
  • Coordinate and manage customer communications (requests, complaints, observations, etc.) with relevant Xylem internal teams to ensure prompt resolution of customer issues.
  • Review project specifications, designs, and scope of supply to gain a clear understanding of requirements for efficient onsite service completion.
  • Proactively identify unmet customer needs and explore opportunities for innovative solutions, including potential parts and service opportunities.
  • Engage with various levels of the customer organization to understand information needs and deliver accordingly.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all activity reports (weekly) and associated documentation.
  • Identify modifications to existing product/project documentation and communicate with the Customer and Xylem project team for review and approval.
  • Ensure all onsite equipment operates in compliance with safety and quality standards as well as company and project specifications.
  • Adhere to all Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with electrical equipment for low and medium voltage power distribution, including VFDs, conduit and cable trays, grounding, and three-phase network configurations.
  • Familiarity with controls and networks for PLC and HMI, including online debugging, network troubleshooting, SCADA interface, and I/O hardware/software configuration and testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret Process and Instrumentation Drawings, including hydraulic profiles, gas and liquid piping, and mechanical level control.
  • Experience in training and repair services for instrumentation (e.g., flow meters, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters).
  • General knowledge of UL and CSA standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the US and Canada; must maintain a valid driver's license and passport.
  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills to foster optimal relationships.
  • Green Belt Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with ServiceMax is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The working environment includes both office and field conditions. Office conditions may involve fluorescent lighting, dust, recycled air, and seasonal temperature variations. Field conditions may include work around pipes, valves, electrical equipment, and machinery typical of manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and water treatment plants. Physical demands may include regular sitting, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent travel (>75%) is required, with a typical work week involving travel on designated days and fieldwork during the midweek.

SALARY: Compensation is based on various factors, including skills, experience, and work location.
