Operating under direct oversight, this position is accountable for diagnosing and resolving issues with sophisticated equipment, managing workload to adhere to turnaround times, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is integral in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic data that aids in patient care and treatment decisions.
Responsibilities:
Conducts all procedures related to the examination of laboratory samples, ensuring compliance with established protocols to deliver precise and trustworthy test results.
Maintains and troubleshoots advanced instrumentation and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to releasing test results to ensure reliable outcomes.
Manages responsibilities and organizes workload to meet designated laboratory turnaround times for effective patient care and treatment decisions.Stays informed on annual competencies, continuing education tasks, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.
Practices efficient resource utilization and actively engages in inventory management to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
EXPERIENCE:Preferred: Six months experience as a technical generalist.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Must possess Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from one of the following upon hire: ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or AMT (American Medical Technologists).
