Overview:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II plays a vital role in executing, evaluating, and reporting laboratory tests on biological specimens to guarantee precise and dependable outcomes by following established protocols and guidelines.

Under the guidance of supervisory personnel, this position is tasked with troubleshooting and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment, managing workload to meet testing timelines, and keeping abreast of competencies and regulatory requirements.

This role is essential in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic information that aids in patient care and clinical decision-making.


Responsibilities:


Conducts all procedures related to the examination of laboratory specimens, ensuring compliance with established protocols to deliver precise and trustworthy test results.

Engages in quality control and assurance measures to uphold accuracy in specimen analysis and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Maintains and troubleshoots advanced laboratory instruments and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to releasing test results to ensure reliable outcomes.

Manages tasks and prioritizes responsibilities to meet designated laboratory turnaround times for optimal patient care and treatment decisions.

Remains informed on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies.

Utilizes supplies efficiently and actively participates in inventory management to sustain a cost-effective and well-resourced laboratory.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.

EXPERIENCE:Preferred: Six months of experience as a technical generalist.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Must possess a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from a recognized body upon hire.
