Key Responsibilities- Architect, build and deploy well-managed core APIs and SDKs to access LLMs and our proprietary Foundational Models, including training, fine-tuning and prompting tasks, including orchestration SDKs.
- Design APIs for performance, real-time applications, scale, ease of use and governance automation.
- Develop application-specific interfaces that leverage LLMs and FMs to continue to enhance customer experience.
- Enable and democratize our users to build new Gen AI capabilities.
- Develop tools and processes to monitor API access patterns and operational health.
- Design and implement Responsible AI with guardrails.
- Bachelors or Master's in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Familiarity with building large-scale AI products, Generative AI solutions, or platforms for NLP, speech, computer vision, or recommendation systems.
- Have experience with API security, observability, cloud access control and privacy best practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms and distributed computing for scalable model training.
- Software development experience in support of enterprise-grade solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Caterpillar offers a total rewards package that provides day-one benefits, including medical, dental, vision, RX, and 401K, along with the potential of an annual bonus. Additional benefits include paid vacation days and holidays (prorated based on the hire date).
Base salary for this role ranges from $123,480 - $200,640. Actual salary will be based on experience.
LocationThe ideal locations for this role are Peoria-IL, Dallas-TX, Nashville-TN; however, we are open to considering other Caterpillar facilities within the U.S. Candidates must have a permanent address within 50-mile driving distance to a Caterpillar facility.
