Position Overview:

Become an integral part of a prestigious academic healthcare institution at The University of Chicago Medicine as a Registry Patient Access Coordinator within our OBGYN Clinic.

In this role, you will work closely with the care team and various departments to assist patients in navigating pediatric cardiology services. The Patient Access Coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that patients and their families receive timely access to necessary services with compassion and efficiency. This position involves coordinating appointments and services for new patients across multiple providers and departments leading up to their initial visit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the scheduling of initial appointments for new psychology patients with the appropriate providers, including coordinating complex joint appointments and referrals for lab tests and imaging prior to the first visit.
  • Proactively address frequently asked questions and concerns from patients, directing inquiries to the relevant UCM clinicians and administrative staff.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of patient authorization for medical records, collaborating with New Patient Associates to ensure all necessary documentation is prepared for the initial visit.
  • Assist patients facing socioeconomic challenges by connecting them with relevant services such as financial assistance, social work, and transportation.
  • Foster strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal physicians, nursing staff, and other hospital personnel involved in patient care, as well as with community partners.
  • Provide information regarding clinical trials and disease diagnosis through various resources. Maintain statistics and generate reports to identify patient needs, trends, referral patterns, and access barriers, contributing to continuous service improvement.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume healthcare setting.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Position Details:

  • Job Type/FTE: Registry (.20 FTE)
  • Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Work Location: Hyde Park
  • Unit/Department: OBGYN
  • CBA Code: Non-Union

This role typically involves working approximately 16 hours per week, primarily during the first shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no on-call shifts required. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with no weekend shifts.
