Job Summary

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing core design and reactor physics support calculations and analyses, working closely with the Energy Harbor's corporate office in Akron, OH. This role will frequently work independently to identify and perform tasks as required to meet company objectives and support the gathering and analysis of information necessary for initiatives or to solve complex problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage reload core design projects and act as the primary contact between the plant and fuel vendor for fuel and safety analysis issues.
  • Perform core physics calculations using the Studsvik CMS software and provide core physics data support to Reactor Engineering, Operations, Training, and other applicable groups at site as well as the Fuel Procurement and Spent Fuel Management groups.
  • Initiate vendor analyses and perform verification of the results of vendor-supplied reload analyses, and provide support for vendor design verifications and quality audits.
  • Be involved in spent fuel criticality analyses, strategic fuel cycle planning, decay heat calculations, and reactor pressure vessel fluence calculations.
  • Identify and perform tasks as required to meet objectives, lead interpretation and analysis of complex issues, and coordinate assigned projects, studies, and initiatives through completion.
  • Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, prepare and present reports including recommendations to resolve complex issues, and participate in and on occasion lead special projects and committees including external organizations.
  • Lead complex problem-solving efforts and apply systematic problem-solving processes to address complex issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required (preferably Nuclear Engineering).
  • Proven performance in the areas of reactor core design and core physics calculations is desirable.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication abilities, a strong analytical ability, and the ability to perform computer programming are required.
  • Studsvik Scandpower CMS software experience and demonstrated experience performing project management are considered a plus.
  • Previous relevant job experience is strongly preferred.
