MISSION STATEMENT:
Liberty Ministries is dedicated to assisting individuals in prison and those reintegrating into society by demonstrating compassion, offering practical support, and upholding Biblical principles of justice.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cashier at Liberty Ministries Thrift plays a crucial role in managing all activities related to the cash register assigned for the day. This position emphasizes customer service, ensuring that patrons feel welcomed while also performing additional responsibilities on the sales floor as needed. The Cashier serves as a friendly representative of both the store and the ministry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process customer transactions accurately using the register system, ensuring proper handling of payments.
- Welcome each customer warmly and inform them about current promotions.
- Utilize the cash register efficiently and seek assistance from management when necessary.
- Assist customers with items displayed in glass cases.
- Respond to phone inquiries and provide information as needed.
- Adhere to established opening and closing procedures for cashiers.
- Educate customers about Liberty Ministries and its mission.
- Promote ongoing sales and fundraising initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace both at the register and on the sales floor.
- Support fundraising activities for Liberty Ministries.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Friendly and approachable demeanor with a strong focus on customer service.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, stretch, push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds, with the capacity to stand for extended periods.
- Proficient communication skills in English, including reading, writing, and basic math.
- Ability to operate store equipment effectively, including cash registers and pricing tools.
- Good physical and mental health, demonstrating emotional maturity and a sense of humor.
- Commitment to the values of a Christian Ministry and alignment with the mission of Liberty Ministries.
- Willingness to adapt to various roles as required.
- Ability to take direction and show initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills with both customers and management.
- Capability to explain store policies clearly to customers.
- Basic proficiency in handling currency.
- Availability to work on weekends.
- Integrity in handling customer information and transactions.
- Maintain a neat appearance and practice good hygiene.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in customer service is preferred.
