Pacific Rail Services is seeking a highly skilled Rail Terminal Operations Supervisor to oversee the efficient operation of our intermodal terminal. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our operations meet customer service standards, maintain the highest level of safety and performance, and align with company standards and government regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate intermodal activities, including ramping and de-ramping of trailers and containers, to meet fluctuating business needs.
- Ensure personnel meet productivity goals and maintain service levels in line with company standards.
- Prioritize outbound trailer loads to meet train schedules and maintain direct contact with customers.
- Uphold company safety policies and maintain high standards for all employees.
- Ensure intermodal freight handling is cost-effective for the company while meeting customer service standards.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound trains to ensure accuracy and securement.
- Determine manpower levels, personnel schedules, and duties assigned.
- Maintain daily contact with Assistant Terminal Managers and Terminal Manager for informational purposes and recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls.
- Valid Driver's License
- Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from vocational education, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, or similar work experience.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co-workers.
- Managerial Skills: Proven managerial skills, including leadership, motivation, successful employee training, understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements, government regulations, and industry standards.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
- Job duties are performed in all outdoor conditions, including rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, and cold.
- Travel throughout the yard and the transfer station may be required by walking or driving.
- This is a physically demanding position, and due to the hazardous nature of the environment, the individual must be able to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
