Rail Terminal Supervisor Job Description

Pacific Rail Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rail Terminal Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our intermodal terminal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate intermodal activities, including ramping and de-ramping of trailers and containers, to meet fluctuating business needs.
  • Oversee personnel performance, ensuring productivity goals are met and service levels align with company standards.
  • Prioritize outbound trailer loads to meet train schedules and maintain direct contact with customers.
  • Uphold company safety policies and maintain high standards for all employees.
  • Ensure intermodal freight handling is cost-effective while meeting customer service standards.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound trains to ensure accuracy and securement.
  • Determine manpower levels, personnel schedules, and duties assigned.
  • Maintain daily contact with Assistant Terminal Managers and Terminal Manager for informational purposes and recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls.
Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry
  • Conflict Resolution skills
  • Proven managerial skills, including leadership, motivation, and successful employee training
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment:
  • Job duties are performed in all outdoor conditions, including rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, and cold.
  • Travel throughout the yard and the transfer station may be required by walking or driving.
  • This is a physically demanding position, and due to the hazardous nature of the environment, the individual must be able to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
