Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY
As an Aquatic Safety Educator, you will engage with participants in a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. This is a part-time role focused on promoting water safety and swimming proficiency.


ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate possesses a robust background in swim instruction and lifeguarding, complemented by exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. You should be adept at modifying your teaching techniques to cater to various learning styles and demonstrate sound decision-making skills in emergency situations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tailor your instructional methods to align with the participants' experience and skill levels.
  • Coordinate and oversee activities for assigned students to ensure high-quality instruction.
  • Verify that all participants are registered and accounted for before classes commence.
  • Foster a personalized learning environment by establishing rapport with students throughout the session.
  • Build positive relationships with parents/guardians, helping them understand their children's swimming progress and achievements.
  • Address minor public inquiries regarding swimming instruction and escalate more complex issues to the supervisor.
  • Uphold pool safety regulations and operational guidelines for all facility users.
  • Document and submit records of completed lessons to the Aquatics supervisor and relevant certification bodies.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics supervisor to enhance and refine your teaching skills for diverse age groups and skill levels.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, which may involve physical exertion and assisting individuals in distress.
  • Maintain vigilance regarding safety concerns while performing various duties.
  • Communicate effectively with both children and adults.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Emphasize water safety and drowning prevention as fundamental components of swimming and aquatic recreation.
  • Exhibit strong skills in communication, time management, critical thinking, planning, organization, and customer service.
  • Participate in regular departmental meetings as required.
  • Ensure the presence of lifeguards during swimming lessons.
  • Submit necessary course documentation in accordance with procedural guidelines.
  • Perform related tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is mandatory.
  • Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification is mandatory.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications are mandatory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants should be at least 18 years of age.

COMPENSATION
Hourly wage ranges from $18 to $25.
