Job Summary

The Coding Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the coding team, promoting teamwork and engagement, and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations. This role requires strong leadership and analytical skills, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.



Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily functions of the coding team, including coding, auditing, and compliance.
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives to ensure efficient and effective workflows.
  • Develop and implement coding policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal customers, including clinics, PB coders, and billers, to ensure seamless communication and workflow.
  • Manage the coding team's education and training needs to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor and analyze coding data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve coding accuracy and compliance.


Requirements
  • Five years of acute hospital-based coding management experience, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a closely related field.
