Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Engineer to join our team at Island Hospitality Management. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel's facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, as well as other hotel equipment.
  • Conduct ongoing room preventative maintenance to ensure guest satisfaction and comfort.
  • Resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Inspect property to identify potential and current needs, and develop plans to address them.
  • Ensure department expenditures meet budget requirements and solicit bids from contractors as needed.
  • Coordinate with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Maintain the pool and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness and chemical content meet standards.
  • Supervise and schedule maintenance staff to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain guest satisfaction scores at brand standard or higher and adhere to all Internal Audit/Corporate standards.
Requirements
  • Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and desire for achievement.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and solve problems as necessary.
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations and follow all safety procedures while working.
  • Ability to extend professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.
  • Prior hotel maintenance experience of at least 4 years or more is a plus.
  • Previous experience in management of maintenance/engineering, specifically electrical, plumbing, HVAC, ventilation, and carpentry.
  • Working knowledge and experience with swimming pool maintenance.
  • Experience ordering supplies and inventory.
