Job Description

The VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Recreation Therapist to join our team at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA. This is a full-time position with an estimated annual salary of $73,361. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our patients.

About the Position

In this role, you will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure seamless transitions between departments. You will also have the opportunity to develop and implement recreational activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being, including sports, games, and creative arts.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure seamless transitions between departments.
  • Document patient progress and outcomes to inform treatment decisions and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in the field of therapeutic recreation to ensure the delivery of evidence-based care.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
