Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct care to patients undergoing renal dialysis treatments and administrative support functions under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
Key Responsibilities- Perform direct care to patients undergoing renal dialysis treatments, including preparing and monitoring equipment used for hemodialysis.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment and delivering high-quality patient care.
- Support Renal Services standards related to the hemodialysis environment.
- Provide administrative support to licensed healthcare professionals, including drafting letters and assisting with completion of forms.
- Document and capture charges for clinical support services rendered within the patient visit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Certified as a Patient Care Dialysis Technician by a State Agency or Nationally Recognized Certification Program within 18 months of hire date.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/traveling, and repetitive motion. The employee may be exposed to fumes, chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
