Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct care to patients undergoing renal dialysis treatments and support administrative functions under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform direct care to patients, including preparing and monitoring equipment used for hemodialysis.
  • Assist with data collection for physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of patients.
  • Organize and prioritize daily work assignments to support patient needs and operational efficiency.
  • Provide clinical support to licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
  • Document and capture charges for clinical support services rendered.
  • Perform administrative support responsibilities, including drafting letters and assisting with completion of forms.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • Certified as a Patient Care Dialysis Technician by a State Agency or Nationally Recognized Certification Program within 18 months of hire date.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/traveling, and repetitive motion. The ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs is also required. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
