Position Overview:

This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient handling of inquiry and referral communications. The individual will act as a crucial link between referral sources, medical professionals, unit staff, and hospital personnel involved in transfer requests.

The position involves entering call data into the facility's system, managing electronic fax applications for incoming referrals, and ensuring timely processing of transfer requests.

Effective communication with physicians, unit staff, and admissions triage personnel is essential. Adherence to hospital policies and procedures regarding referral management is required. This role offers flexible scheduling options and the potential for a hybrid work environment.

Work Schedule:

Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Core Job Functions:

The successful candidate will:
  • Handle all referral and inquiry calls, providing timely patient assessments.
  • Effectively manage interactions with at-risk or emotionally distressed individuals via phone or telehealth.
  • Document all call data accurately in the facility's database and utilize electronic systems for bed management.
  • Ensure that all patient medical records are complete and that nursing and clinical staff are informed of patient histories.
  • Provide accurate information to referral sources as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, referral sources, and internal teams.
  • Adapt to scheduling needs, which may include day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications:

Education:

Required: RN License or Master's Degree

Experience:

1-3 years of experience in psychiatric healthcare preferred. A strong understanding of psychiatric services and hospital capabilities is essential. Familiarity with medical and clinical information review processes is necessary, along with knowledge of involuntary procedures and EMTALA regulations.

Skills:

Strong customer service and communication abilities (both verbal and written) are required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks, work effectively under pressure, and apply critical thinking skills to achieve goals.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 30%
