Job Title: Residential Instructor

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team at Community Residences. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to our clients with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary

The Residential Instructor will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive living environment for our clients. This includes assisting with daily living tasks, providing emotional support, and promoting independence. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of developmental disabilities and be able to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household chores.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Valid CT driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Medication Administration Certification within 4 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and guide other staff members.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues in the field of developmental disabilities.
Education

Bachelor's Degree, or an Associates Degree and one (1) year experience in the Human Services Field. Or: a high school diploma or GED with two (2) years' experience in the Human Services field.
