Position Overview:
This part-time role offers a unique chance for an enthusiastic individual to join The Consortium in empowering older adults to navigate the digital landscape and utilize technology to meet their personal aspirations.

Role of the Trainer:
As a representative of The Consortium, trainers not only deliver the educational curriculum but also provide essential technical assistance. They embody the organization's values of excellence, curiosity, and a positive attitude.

Trainers utilize various resources, including books and online materials, to instruct older adults. Classes are typically conducted in person twice a week over a set period, while virtual sessions focus on specific technology topics, with schedules varying quarterly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering technology courses primarily in person, utilizing the established curriculum.
  • Creating a welcoming and supportive educational atmosphere.
  • Providing tailored assistance to participants through dedicated support channels.
  • Engaging with community members to promote available programs.
  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
  • Representing and advocating for the organization's culture and opportunities.
  • Communicating regularly with staff to provide feedback on curriculum and site-related matters.
  • Coordinating with site personnel for events such as graduations.
  • Submitting required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collecting participant feedback through surveys and evaluations.
  • Entering relevant data into the organization's database.
  • Participating in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of participants as necessary.
  • Engaging in special projects related to outreach and curriculum development.
  • Supervising volunteers assisting with classes.

Decision-Making Authority:
Trainers have limited decision-making authority and must adhere to established training standards and methodologies throughout all participant interactions.

Challenges of the Role:
Trainers face a diverse set of challenges, working with older adults in various settings and with differing levels of technological experience. This requires adaptability and quick thinking.

Interaction Focus:
Interactions with participants are primarily educational and coaching in nature, aimed at helping them master technology skills applicable to their daily lives.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to convey technical information clearly in both English and Spanish.
  • Experience in teaching diverse age groups, particularly seniors, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using standard technology, including Windows and iOS devices.
  • Willingness to travel to various community centers as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor are essential.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a professional environment is required.
