Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Student Account Specialist to join our team at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. As a key member of our Treasury Services department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to students, staff, and community members, while ensuring accurate and timely processing of student accounts and financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide information and assistance to students, staff, and community members on a variety of topics related to student services, including financial aid, tuition payments, and account balances.
  • Account Management: Conduct assessments of student needs and proactively engage students in conversation and financial planning related to their college experience; facilitate set up of payment plans for current student accounts.
  • Financial Transactions: Act as primary point of contact for students, staff, and college departments in accurately receipting, recording, refunding, and balancing tuition payments and college revenues; balance daily cashiering sessions and prepare deposits.
  • Problem Resolution: Work closely with college-wide personnel to research and resolve or redirect student inquiries and disputes; handle difficult customer situations and disputes using tact, diplomacy, and patience.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare a variety of routine accounting reports, such as aging reports and collections analysis.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Ensure compliance with college payment, billing, and refund policies, as well as institutional and federal regulations regarding confidentiality and financial aid.
Requirements
  • Education: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in student financial accounts, banking, or a related area.
  • Skills: Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the functions of this job, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
