Job Description

Position Title: Customer Service Representative

Department: Operations

Salary Range: $17-$18/hr, contingent on location, performance, and experience (potential for salary increase after a designated evaluation period)

FLSA Status: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)

Employment Status: Available in both full-time and part-time capacities

Role Summary:
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a crucial role in ensuring safety, profitability, and exceptional customer service. This position is hourly and non-exempt, reporting directly to the Store Manager regarding the upkeep and functioning of the retail establishment. If you thrive in a dynamic, team-focused setting, this role may be ideal for you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding and courteous customer service while addressing complaints promptly and tactfully.
  • Employ suggestive selling strategies to enhance sales while fostering strong customer relationships.
  • Accurately process transactions at the cash register, manage cash and various payment methods, and adhere to cash handling protocols to mitigate loss.
  • Operate the POS system and other equipment as specified.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, including basic upkeep of all equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and complete shift closeouts effectively.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision, including working flexible hours as needed.
  • Report any observed dishonesty by customers, vendors, or staff to management, following established procedures for addressing theft.
  • Participate in all required training and orientation sessions.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs. from ground to waist level as necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs. from ground to overhead for up to 30 minutes during the shift.
  • Ability to exert force of up to 20 lbs. when pushing or pulling.
  • Ability to bend at the waist with some twisting for up to 1 hour during the shift.
  • Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects; may require climbing a ladder to retrieve materials or place signage for up to 4 hours of the shift.

Work Environment:
  • Approximately 95% of duties performed indoors.
  • Exposure to intermittent cold temperatures when working in coolers or freezers.
  • Occasional work in confined spaces; ability to work independently.
  • Minimal direction and periodic supervision required.

Equipment Utilization:
  • Utilization of electronic equipment such as POS systems, store telephones, and various transaction machines.
  • Use of manual equipment including cleaning supplies and carts.
  • Handling of various materials including liquids, cloth, plastic, glass, and cleaning agents.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Experience in retail sales and customer service (preferred).
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
