Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Gluck Child Care Center, a leading childcare program serving the employees of Scripps Health and The Scripps Research Institute.

About the Role: As an Early Childhood Educator, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to young children, ages 3 months to 6 years. You will work closely with a team of experienced teachers and staff to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized care and attention to each child, meeting their unique needs and developmental milestones.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and activities that align with the program's curriculum and promote learning and exploration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient daily operation, including mealtime, naptime, and outdoor play.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to share daily updates, progress, and any concerns.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in early childhood education and child development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, with 12 semester units in college-level Child Development and/or Early Childhood Education.
  • 6 months of work experience in a licensed childcare program, with a focus on infant and toddler care.
  • Ability to lift children weighing up to 50 lbs, visually supervise children playing, and respond physically to a child's needs.
  • Current Infant and Child CPR/First Aid certification through AHA.
  • Meet state requirements for this role, including Live Scan.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.A./A.A. Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.
  • 2 years of experience in a childcare setting working with young children ages 3 months to 6 years.
  • Knowledge of Piaget's Child Development theory and ability to articulate and practice theory.
