Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production General Manager to lead our swine production team at the APEX facility in Mound City, South Dakota. As a key member of our PIC team, you will be responsible for driving genetic progress, operational revenue, and cost management within our production systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute monitoring programs to optimize pig production and genetic gain
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve performance, genetic gain, and profit
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and labor regulations, and maintain a safe working environment
  • Lead the development of personnel development plans for direct reports and cascade those through the operational unit
  • Manage budgeted costs and revenue, measured on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures to achieve repeatable and measurable results
  • Measure and report progress to supply chain management, health assurance, product development team, and export teams
  • Participate in developing new husbandry practices or improving existing ones
  • Develop and execute training tools and adapt evolving technologies into daily management
  • Provide management or oversight of collaborative technical projects, as needed
  • Present recommendations, results, and experience gained to broader audiences
Requirements
  • University Degree and/or equivalent experience of five (5) years within contemporary swine production systems
  • Proven analytical capabilities to link production data with interventions needed to improve system performance and profitability
  • Working knowledge of contemporary record keeping systems
  • Proven experience working with culturally diverse teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems in a production environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
  • Ability to travel 25%
