Job Summary

We are seeking a Front End Clerk to join our team at Mississippi Market Natural Foods Co-op. As a Front End Clerk, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring timely and accurate transactions, and maintaining a clean and well-stocked front end area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Process transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit card payments, and other forms of payment
  • Maintain a clean and organized front end area, including the checkout lanes, shelves, and surrounding areas
  • Assist with bagging and loading customer purchases, and provide additional services such as gift wrapping and carrying groceries to customers' vehicles
  • Participate in monthly donation campaigns and sell memberships to customers
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve sales goals and provide excellent customer service
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers from diverse backgrounds
  • Basic math skills, with the ability to accurately handle cash and process transactions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous retail or customer service experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages
  • Basic computer skills, with the ability to use a point-of-sale system

Work Environment

The Front End Clerk will work in a fast-paced retail environment, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. The position involves frequent stationary tasks, along with regular movement within the front end area. The job also entails the frequent movement of containers weighing up to 50 pounds. The Front End Clerk will utilize various equipment, including a point-of-sale system.

The Front End Clerk may be exposed to cleaning products and loud noises. The position requires exchanging accurate information in person, over the phone, and over the store loudspeakers.
