Position Overview:
The Parts Technician I is responsible for delivering exceptional counter service to municipal personnel requiring parts and equipment for their operational needs. This role involves supporting inventory management, data entry in inventory systems, and providing customer assistance, with occasional responsibilities that may include driving a company vehicle for parts collection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service Excellence:
    Deliver high-quality service by:
    - Paying close attention to detail
    - Familiarizing oneself with and adhering to company SOPs and Safety Guidelines
    - Welcoming and assisting customers
    - Ensuring requisition forms are accurately completed (including signatures, timestamps, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities)
    - Responding to inquiries about parts availability
    - Asking relevant questions to ensure accurate parts selection
    - Notifying customers when requested parts are ready for pickup
  • Parts Collection:
    - Operate a vehicle to designated sites for purchasing or collecting parts
    - Provide necessary documentation to vendors (such as tax-exempt forms and credit references)
    - Verify all invoices at vendor locations for pricing and quantity accuracy
    - Return items to the company location promptly
  • Data Management:
    - Assist in generating invoices for customer requisitions within the inventory system
    - Help with the entry of vendor receiving documents into the inventory system
  • Inventory Oversight:
    - Participate in weekly inventory cycle counts
    - Contribute to counts during comprehensive inventories at the site
  • Additional Duties:
    - Follow established protocols for vehicle and equipment upkeep
    - Provide 24-hour support during emergencies
    - Travel to various locations for parts collection
    - Assist with inventory research projects as needed
    - Adhere to required operational procedures
    - Operate a forklift as necessary
    - Engage in ongoing training programs
    - Support Store Supervisor responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of computer experience
  • Availability for 24-hour support
  • Valid Driver's License with at least two years of driving experience
  • 1 year of experience with automotive or heavy-duty truck parts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift certification

Physical Requirements:
This position involves medium work, requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Essential Functions:
Includes driving, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, and walking.

Work Environment:
Most tasks are performed in an office setting; however, some duties may occur in storerooms and warehouses, which may have variable temperatures and conditions with dust or dampness. Travel to sites using a vehicle is expected.
