Position Summary
As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of Murata Machinery products. Your role will involve collaborating with sales teams and providing training to customer staff. You will also engage in cross-training on both Metal Forming and Metal Cutting products to ensure optimal customer service. Additionally, you will provide telephone support to clients by addressing inquiries related to products and services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation of Murata Machinery products:
- a. Execute the installation and demonstration of new machinery at client facilities, including electrical and mechanical inspections, setup, tooling, operation, and programming.
- b. Prepare and submit detailed demonstration reports in a timely manner.
- a. Conduct basic electrical, electronic, mechanical, or hydraulic diagnostics and repairs at client locations during the warranty period.
- b. Engage in cross-training on mechanical, electrical, and electronic maintenance.
- c. Provide guidance and support to clients on operational and programming issues during the warranty period.
- d. Perform maintenance tasks and offer essential assistance to clients post-warranty.
- e. Assist clients in selecting and ordering tools and replacement parts.
- f. Accurately prepare and submit service time and expense reports.
- a. Collaborate with fellow Field Service Technicians on various tasks to gain necessary on-the-job training.
- b. Enhance knowledge of Murata Machinery products through:
- 1. Participation in training sessions, seminars, and conferences.
- 2. Completion of recommended training courses.
- c. Educate customer personnel on processing, tooling, operation, and maintenance of Murata Machinery products.
- a. Recommend machinery and accessory equipment to prospective clients.
- b. Identify and report sales opportunities.
- c. Provide assistance and advice regarding machine applications, tooling, and cost estimation.
- d. Foster positive relationships with clients.
- Provide assistance through phone support, offering product and service information, and resolving any issues related to products and services.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are essential:
- Proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, and laser systems.
- Familiarity with CNC equipment (FANUC experience is advantageous).
- Background in machine tool operations.
- Several years of technical or military training in electronics.
- A professional approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to understanding customer needs.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the USA.
Education and Experience
An Associate Degree in a relevant field or engineering discipline is preferred. Technical School or Military Certification is acceptable. A minimum of 1-4 years of experience in machine tool maintenance or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
