Certified Peer Specialist

Pioneer Human Services is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will provide client advocacy and support to individuals receiving behavioral health services. You will work under the supervision of a mental health professional and/or a SUDP to provide hope and encouragement while promoting personal responsibility for recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Assist clients to obtain community services, including healthcare, social services, housing, employment training, and employment.
- Support clients' pursuit of recovery activities.
- Utilize life experiences and training to provide hope and encouragement for recovery to individuals receiving behavioral health services.
- Support clinical and/or residential staff in the provision of clinical services.
- Advocate for client needs.
- Act as a role model for clients.
- Practice strong boundaries that are appropriate in the peer role.
- Report incidents that impact clients to supervisor on duty.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a self-identified consumer of mental health services.
- Proficiency in reading comprehension and writing skills.
- Successfully complete an approved 40-hour specialized training program and pass state exam within 1 year of hire.
- Must be able to obtain Agency Affiliated Counselor (WAC and RCW within 60-days from the date of hire.
- Valid food handlers card within one week of hire.
- A.A./B.A./B.S. degree in a health or human services field.
This position is located in a medical monitoring facility and requires occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. The work environment is indoors, and the individual will be exposed to hazards commonly found in these environments, including janitorial and maintenance chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, viruses, and bacteria.
