POSITION SUMMARY:

The Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves adhering to established policies and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control within the facility. The technician performs a variety of cleaning tasks to keep patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other designated areas in optimal condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring all surfaces are free of dust and debris.
  • Maintain cleanliness in bathrooms and other essential areas.
  • Utilize mechanical cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums as needed.
  • Conduct wet mopping of floors, hallways, and stairwells to uphold cleanliness standards.
  • Shampoo carpets and upholstery to maintain a fresh environment.
  • Clean high surfaces, including vents and windows, using appropriate tools and safety measures.
  • Manage waste disposal by gathering and disposing of trash in designated containers.
  • Perform floor maintenance tasks, including buffing, stripping, and waxing as required.
  • Assist in moving furniture and heavy items as necessary.
  • Prepare conference rooms by arranging furniture and cleaning as needed.
  • Execute terminal cleaning procedures for patient rooms, ensuring readiness for new occupants.
  • Disinfect all surfaces, including floors, mirrors, and walls, across the facility.
  • Maintain an organized work area and assist with additional cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Support emergency response efforts when required.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, or different shifts as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.

Supervisory Role:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role require the employee to engage in various activities, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must be capable of lifting and moving items weighing over 50 pounds. Vision requirements include the ability to see close, at a distance, and adjust focus as necessary.
