Job Description:

Direct Counsel, a premier nationally recognized law firm, seeks a mid-level regulatory insurance associate to join their DC office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on regulatory and corporate insurance matters, including company formation and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance agreements, program agreements, and broker agreements.
  • Assist in the formation of captive insurance companies and provide ongoing regulatory compliance advice.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex regulatory issues and provide clear guidance to clients.
  • Represent clients in interactions with state insurance departments and other regulatory agencies.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in.
  • 3-5 years of experience in regulatory and corporate law, preferably at a law firm.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in forming companies, contracting for reinsurance agreements, and drafting and negotiating program and broker agreements.
Benefits:
  • The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $245,000-$315,000, based on experience level, education, and relevant skills.
  • Associates participate in a performance and hours-based bonus program.
