Job Overview

The role of the Manufacturing Product Engineer involves the enhancement and upkeep of customer specifications for sheet metal fabricated components and assemblies. This position is crucial for the development of products that are optimized for manufacturing efficiency. Responsibilities include the quoting, releasing, and management of part drawings to ensure compliance with external, internal, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and model enhancements for customer specifications using PTC CREO.
  • Analyze and engineer models to ensure functionality, performance, and durability of parts.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the engineering process through established controls to prevent failures.
  • Review product specifications and clarify any ambiguities with clients.
  • Evaluate statutory and regulatory requirements for compliance.
  • Assess manufacturability of designs.
  • Conduct FEA/CAE analysis and communicate findings effectively.
  • Support engineering reviews and compile testing results and evaluation records.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and travel as necessary for collaboration.
  • Engage in cross-functional teams to address manufacturing challenges and drive continuous improvement in productivity, methods, processes, and quality.
  • Standardize engineering administrative functions, including BOM development and engineering documentation.
  • Perform audits to assess system effectiveness for product quality.
  • Proactively seek assistance when risks exceed manageable levels and notify relevant parties early.
  • Establish process controls to prevent errors in operations.
  • Stay informed about advancements in manufacturing technologies to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives as outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Manage budget items related to shop expenses and critical operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in creating parametric models, including surface and solid modeling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot data integrity issues effectively.
  • Experience in creating drawings and managing CAD data structures.
  • Strong skills in reading blueprints and interpreting customer specifications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Well-organized with a focus on documentation of results and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CREO.
  • Commitment to Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require regular sitting, using hands for manipulation, and frequent communication. The role may involve standing, bending, and walking, with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
