Job Title: Staff Accountant

Gold Star Foods is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Posting journal entries and accruals
  • Reconciling bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and general ledger
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets accounts and roll-forward schedules
  • Reviewing and recording employee and contract labor payroll journals
  • Assisting with month-end closing activities and providing management with reports, data, and analysis as requested
  • Preparing monthly balance sheets, income statements, and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
  • Working with the appropriate department to research and resolve discrepancy issues in a timely manner
  • Generating month-end reports as needed
  • Reviewing daily issues and working with the team to resolve them
  • Documenting issues beyond your control and reviewing with the Division Controller in a timely manner
  • Collaborating with the Assistant Controller to complete a clear year-end audit
Requirements:
  • Foodservice distribution experience (preferred) and/or supply chain experience (plus)
  • Experience with inventory cost accounting and understanding of accounting for manufacturing (required)
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., pivot tables & vlookups)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting and ERP software (Microsoft Navision / Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced analytic skills, including excellent mathematical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple levels and departments within an organization
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Education/Experience:
  • 3 years' experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business (preferred)
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This position will be in an office setting at a desk equipped with a computer, monitors, phone, and other applicable resources/equipment. It will require the applicant to routinely sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend for up to 8 hours. Position requires the occasional lifting of objects up to 10lbs.
