Job Title: Patient Services Specialist

G&A Partners is seeking a highly skilled Patient Services Specialist to join our team in Houston, TX. As a Patient Services Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and employees
  • Prepare and assemble patient charts, new and established, with face sheet, charge ticket, and physician-specific forms
  • Verify and review patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy and completeness
  • Enter data on updates and changes in insurance information and demographics
  • Review schedules for next-day appointments and obtain necessary information, due balances, and referrals
  • Schedule new and recheck appointments for patients as needed
  • Oversee the waiting area and report any problems or irregularities to the practice administrator/team lead
  • Answer phone calls, screen calls, take messages, and provide information in a pleasant and helpful manner
  • Maintain patient flow and scan appropriate information into the electronic health record
  • Notify patients of the need for insurance authorizations when necessary
  • Post charges into Modernizing Medicine according to charges marked on the encounter form
  • Accept cash, check, and credit card payments from patients at the time of service
  • Collect past-due balances or refer patients to the appropriate person for payment plan setup
  • Follow Time of Service and EoD policy for collection of payments
  • Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each day and as required during the day
  • Prepare end-of-day paperwork and place it in the designated area
Core Competencies:
  • Takes initiative and anticipates the need of co-workers
  • Adheres to Bloodborne Pathogen Standards
  • Applies HIPAA rules in regards to privacy and release of medical information and works in a confidential manner
  • Adheres to OSHA guidelines
Qualifications:
  • High school graduation or GED/BLS certification
  • Minimum of three years of medical office experience
