JOB OBJECTIVE & VISION
The role is pivotal in managing clerical and administrative tasks within a healthcare unit, ensuring effective communication of patient needs, accurate data entry, and seamless interaction among healthcare team members. This position is designed to cater to the diverse age groups served, aligning with the department's operational framework.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
1. Organizes, compiles, and oversees unit documentation.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
• Diligently prepares necessary forms and maintains records essential for daily unit operations, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Exhibits proficiency in documentation protocols, charting formats, and medical terminology.
• Provides a comprehensive change-of-shift report, clarifying any unclear information.
• Ensures that the medical record is up-to-date and includes all required documentation.
• Verifies that all utilized forms are completely filled out, properly signed, and processed according to established policies.
• Accurately manages patient information.
2. Oversees unit supplies and equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
• Maintains a well-stocked and organized nursing station.
• Assists the Unit Manager in tracking and capturing charges accurately.
• Orders, stocks, and manages supplies within the patient care area.
• Retrieves medications from the pharmacy and/or tube system, ensuring proper handling according to policy.
• Executes timely and precise entry of physician orders.
3. Engages in the admission and discharge processes.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
• Communicates all upcoming admissions to the relevant unit personnel.
• Welcomes and assists patients and visitors to the unit, adhering to the organization's core values.
• Accurately inputs patient data into the system and initiates patient records.
• Properly records discharge information and notifies the necessary departments and staff.
• Ensures timely transfer of medical records to the appropriate departments in compliance with policies.
4. Executes additional duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Preferred: Two years of experience in a healthcare environment.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Preferred: High school diploma.
SPECIAL SKILLS, LICENSES, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Preferred: Proficiency in computer operations and clerical skills.
HIPAA COMPLIANCE:
Maintains awareness of and adheres to all relevant HIPAA regulations applicable to this position, including but not limited to: management of medical records, patient demographics, lab results, surgical information, and patient financial data.
SAFETY COMPLIANCE:
Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all safety protocols relevant to this position, including incident reporting, waste handling, and patient identification procedures.
